Ikono Local Government Council in Akwa Ibom State has launched a network of Free Registration Support Centres to assist residents in participating in the ongoing Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Recruitment exercise.
The initiative, approved by the Executive Chairman, Oto-Obong Okon Essien, COP, is aimed at ensuring that no qualified indigenous person is left out due to lack of internet access, smartphones, or technical know-how.
According to a statement by the Council’s Press Secretary and Special Assistant on Media, Publicity, and Strategy, Emmanuel Ufon, the centres operate daily from 8am to 6pm at the following locations:
Nung Udo Itak, opposite the Fence Oil Filling Station by Care Point Pharmacy, Itak Junction, and Ukpom Junction, Ikono Local Government Council Secretariat.
The release further indicated that Council officials will be on hand at the Secretariat to offer free technical assistance, guiding applicants through the process, to ensure successful submission.
“This programme demonstrates the Council’s commitment to inclusive governance and equal opportunity,” the statement read. “We are making sure that every qualified indigene, regardless of their socio-economic or technological limitations, has a fair chance to apply.”
In addition, the centres will also serve applicants involved in the completion phase of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) recruitment under the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). Those who previously registered but could not generate their application slips are encouraged to visit any of the designated locations.
The Council urged all eligible residents, particularly those in rural communities, to seize the opportunity before the recruitment deadlines.
