The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has dismissed the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, asserting that it consists of politicians who do not inspire public confidence.

In a statement issued yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the APM stated that the campaign council validates its position that President Bola Tinubu lacks the support of patriotic Nigerians due to his performance since taking office.

The opposition party added that it did not expect President Tinubu to enjoy the backing of well-meaning citizens, owing to his dismal record in governing the country.

The statement reads in part: “Any Nigerian supporting President Tinubu’s re-election is directly endorsing the continuation of a hopeless and rudderless administration. Under its failed watch, no fewer than 628,000 Nigerians have been killed and over 2.2 million others, including children, abducted in just three and a half years, demonstrating the administration’s complete lack of commitment to the security, safety, and well-being of our citizens.

“How can any well-meaning Nigerian campaign for an administration that has ruined our economy through ill-advised and poorly implemented anti-people policies? These actions have crippled our national productive sectors, pushed over 140 million Nigerians below the poverty line, driven unemployment above 33 per cent, and left our national infrastructure comatose.

“The APM therefore advises the Tinubu Campaign Council to note that its mission is dead on arrival. The Osun governorship election should serve as a clear sign that President Tinubu cannot win the 2027 presidential election—especially when contesting against a far more popular candidate in the mould of the APM presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, who now enjoys the solidarity of the majority of Nigerians as the credible alternative.”

The APM noted that its presidential candidate “is armed with a blueprint for a new, transparent approach to governance that puts Nigerians first, prioritizing inclusive human development and well-being through people-oriented policies and the prudent management of resources.
