The Ijaw Elders Forum (IEF), Lagos, has expressed its condolences to the family of the late Chief Albert Korubo Horsfall, who passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the age of 84.
Joining eminent Nigerians paying tribute to the former intelligence chief and pioneer Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the IEF, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Chief Bukazi Etete, described the deceased as an “institutional titan and foundational pillar of Nigeria’s security architecture.”

At the regional level, Horsfall served as the pioneer Chairman of the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC), leading key development initiatives across the Niger Delta. He was widely recognized as a founding elder statesman of Rivers State and the broader Niger Delta region.
“The Ijaw Elders Forum and the entire Ijaw nation commiserate with the Horsfall family and pray that his soul finds eternal rest,” the statement read.
