Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho scored the opener for Celtic in the team’s 3-2 victory over Motherwell at Celtic Park, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iheanacho returned to the starting lineup for Celtic yesterday as the team played hosts to Motherwell.

The Super Eagles striker had a fine start to life in Glasgow, with two goals and one assist in his first three games. But he failed to score in his previous two.

However, he ended that run against Motherwell. Celtic won a penalty in the 27th minute, and Iheanacho took responsibility for it. He proved his quality once more, sending the ball to the bottom-right corner to make it 1-0.

However, the Scottish champion was pegged back just 10 minutes later, courtesy of a strike from Apostolos Stamatelopoulos. His goal ensured that the first half ended 1-1.

In the second half, the Australian, Stamatelopoulos, scored the second for Motherwell from the spot, to make it 2-1 to the Scottish champion.

But Celtic came roaring back with goals from Benjamin Nygren and Daizen Maeda, to seal a 3-2 win.

Iheanacho was taken out of the game in the 71st minute. Aside from his goal, he registered 22 touches, three key passes, and two big chances created.

Following his goal against Motherwell, Iheanacho has now registered three goals and one assist in six games for Celtic since joining the club last month.

Unfortunately for him, he was left out of the Super Eagles squad for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers games against Lesotho and Benin.

With his recent upturn in form, the Super Eagles handlers, including coach Eric Chelle, will surely be keeping tabs.

Iheanacho will be hoping to return to the squad soon and become an important player for Nigeria again.
