The Inspector General of Police(IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, has taken Nigeria’s security concerns to the global stage as he attends the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in South Africa.
The high powered gathering, which drew over 200 police chiefs and security leaders from 56 countries, is expected to strengthen international cooperation against transnational crime, boost intelligence sharing, and fashion new strategies for cross border policing.
In a statement yesterday, Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO), DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the IGP is scheduled to deliver a paper on “Cattle Theft in West Africa: A Conduit for Terrorism and CBRNE Threats.”

According to Adejobi, “the IGP will be underscoring the nexus between transnational organized crime, terrorism financing, and emerging chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats within the sub-region.”
He added that the IGP would also be holding bilateral meetings with the INTERPOL President, Major General Naser Alraisi and the Secretary General, Valdecy Urquiza, focusing on consolidating operational partnerships, deepening intelligence exchange, strengthening mutual legal assistance, and reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to global policing.
“The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its resolve to remain an active and reliable partner in international law enforcement efforts while continuing to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians at home and abroad.
“With cattle rustling now dragging Nigeria into the global security spotlight, the IGP’s bold outing in South Africa is being seen as a decisive push to place the nation’s fight against organized crime at the centre of international policing.”
