Igboekulie, an association whose core mission is the promotion of Igbo language and culture, which plays a vital role in preserving Igbo language and culture, had a change of guard a few days ago. The change introduced Sir Benjamin Obidegwu as the president worldwide. Sir Obidegwu is a seasoned corporate attorney with over thirty years active law practice experience and immediate-past President General of Nzuko Obodoukwu Clan.

The eight year tenure of Prince Ben. Onuora led Executive Committee came to an end on 24th September 2023. In its place, an election for a new executive committee was conducted by Prof. Bernard Jiburum. At the end of the rancour free election, the following members were elected, Sir. Benjamin Obidegwu – President, Dr. Mrs. Oby Nwaokorie — Secretary, Mrs. Iphie Acha-Mba – Asst. Secretary, Bar. Dan Chu Okoye — Treasurer, Bar Vigil Anyanwu — Provost, Bar Uche Ugwu — Welfare, Emeka Onyenacho – Head Finance and Fund Raising Committee,
Paul Ogbuokiri – Head Education and Enlightenment Committee and
Bar. Heavens Agwunobi – Strategy Committee.
In his acceptance speech, Sir Obidegwu thanked his predecessor Prince Ben Onuora for the great work he did for the association for the eight years he was in charge.
He also called all Igbo leaders to rise, support, and promote Igbo language and culture at home and in the Diaspora.
