As preparation for the September 15, 2024, slated for the Igbo New Yam Festival in Ghana, is on top gear, the various Diasporan Technical and Organizing Committees saddled with different tasks are working very assiduously to ensuring a successful and hitch-free annual celebration that heralds the Igbo rich cultural heritage and her diversity in Ghana.
In keeping faith and touch with Igbo critical leaders back home, the Igbo Diasporan King in Ghana, HRM Eze (Dr.) Amb. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu (Ezeigbo Ghana), led a retinue of his colorful entourage to visit a number of Igbo illustrious sons and members of the National Assembly as he extended letters of invitation to these federal lawmakers and prominent leaders from the Igbo extraction.
On arrival to Nigeria within the week, his first visit was to the Chairman of Senate Committee on Diaspora and member representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Sen. Dr. Victor Umeh, OFR. While extending his letter of invitation to the Distinquished Senator, Eze Ihenetu commended him for standing out as a very strong voice in the defense of ndi Igbo and in promoting Igbo cultural diversity in Nigeria with his symbolic Igbo regale.

In his response, Sen. Victor Umeh (Ohamadike) appluaded Ezeigbo Ghana, HRM Amb. Chukwudi Ihenetu, for his leadership tenacity and resilience in using his revered Obigbo diasporan throne in the Republic of Ghana to promote Igbo culture and tradition while bringing the cultural festivities of Ndi Igbo to global reckoning, he commended the Igbo diasporan monarch, Ihenetu, for his consistency and unity of purpose recalling that he extended same invitation to him during last year’s event even as he promised to attend this year’s event in his capacity as the Nigerian Senate Committee Chairman on Diaspora.
The following day; the Team, led by HRM Eze Dr. Amb. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu, was received in audience by Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South Senatorial District, Sen. Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Central District, Hon. Princess Chinwe Nnabuife (Adaejiejemba), representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Delta State, and Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), respectively.
In a letter signed by Ezeigbo Ghana a copy which was made available to his Director on Media Strategy & Communications, Njoku Macdonald Obinna , the Igbo Diasporan Monarch in Gahana stated inter alia :
It is with great pleasure that I extend to you and other South East State governors a most cordial invitation to attend the 12th Edition of the Igbo New Yam Festival in Ghana, a colorful annual event designed to promote Igbo rich cultural heritage and diversity, trusting that your esteemed presence will not only herald our Igboness, but amplify our unity of purpose in bringing ndiigbo together and our lost siblings in the Western World who are earnestly tracing their African roots for a possible heroic home coming.
It is my earnest conviction that you will find this year’s epochmaking event a worthwhile experience . The program will give consideration, among other matters of Igbo culture and tradition, unity of purpose, economic development, and celebration of our illustrious sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora through chieftaincy title confernments and Diasporan Awards.
The obviously elated Sen. Ned Nwoko, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe and Sen. Victor Umeh commended Eze Igboland, HRM Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu, for being a good Ambassador of ndi Igbo in Ghana by making global impact through the annual Igbo New Yam Festival in the Republic of Ghana. The prominent Igbo leaders and Nigerian senators promised to honour his invitation as a mark of respect to Igbo culture and her people living in Ghana and around the world.
