Olasunkanmi Fasasi is one of the Nollywood stars adding value to the movie industry.
In an encounter with Saturday Sun, Sunkanmi, who is fondly called Suko by his friends and fans, narrated his journey into the industry.
He said: “I became attracted to this career path when my father took me to the local theatre to see a stage play. I saw myself on this career path because as at that time, I found it interesting. I was happy to meet a few of the performers. One of my friends back then was involved in the children’s theatre group and invited me to one of the rehearsals. The process behind creating a show fascinated me, and I signed up for the group the next season. I continued to act in school and Community Theater until I gained admission to higher school and joined the theatre club. l can’t think of anything I could do outside of acting.”
The ‘Shush’ actor also recounted some of the challenges he faced when he initially joined the movie industry. “When I first got into the industry, after learning the rudiments of acting, I thought I’d just start getting featured in movies. I thought I would become a star actor overnight. But things did not turn out that way. I faced numerous challenges. Getting funds to produce my own movie was another major challenge. If one does not have money to produce movies, it is always difficult to get featured in another person’s movie. It wasn’t easy at all.”
