Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has claimed he speaks regularly with Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, describing himself as one of the former Real Madrid star’s biggest admirers.
The singer made the revelation during a livestream with content creator Carter Efe, where he also explained why he supported Portugal during the recently concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Davido, his loyalty to Portugal was influenced by his close relationship with several players in the national team.
“Because I have a lot of friends in the Portuguese team. I want Portugal to win,” he said during the livestream.
When Carter Efe suggested that his support was mainly because of Ronaldo, Davido responded without hesitation.
“I love Ronaldo. I’m a CR7 fan,” the singer said.
Davido then made an even bigger claim, saying he communicates frequently with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Speaking in Pidgin English, he declared, “I talk to the legend back-to-back.”
To support his claim, the singer briefly displayed what appeared to be a chat conversation with Ronaldo on his mobile phone during the livestream.
The display left Carter Efe visibly stunned as he repeatedly exclaimed, “God, I don mad! I don mad! I don mad!” in excitement.
The video has since circulated widely across social media, attracting thousands of reactions from football lovers and music fans alike.
Davido has long been associated with international football stars and has consistently expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the authenticity of the conversation shown on the singer’s phone could not be independently verified.
