Rising Nollywood actress Ifeoma Obinwa is steadily carving a niche for herself in Nigeria’s dynamic and competitive film industry.

When it comes to her craft, Obinwa is known for her versatility, effortlessly transitioning between light-hearted roles and deeply emotional performances. Yet, she remains firm about the kinds of characters she is willing to portray.

“I love to explore different characters and stretch myself creatively. But I also have boundaries. I would reject a role if it doesn’t align with my values — anything that feels harmful, careless, or unnecessarily exploitative. However, I don’t mind controversial or dark psychological roles. But there has to be substance and purpose behind it. Because we’re not telling stories for the sake of it or just because we can. Film is a very powerful tool. It helps shape narratives. It teaches and shapes minds. I try to be mindful of the messages I pass. It should mean something. It should have substance and purpose it. I think that’s what matters to me,” she tells Saturday Sun.

Despite her growing profile, Obinwa is rarely featured in snapshots from high-profile social events

The Together Forever star actress opened up about her quiet lifestyle and selective approach to social events, “I am an extroverted introvert. It’s not like I don’t socialise, but I love to do it on my terms. I love connection, I enjoy people — I laugh out loud, I dance. But after all that, I just want my solitude. It’s not that I love isolation, I just need time alone to recharge and be with myself. I may not always be everywhere, but when I do show up, I show up fully. I bring the vibes, I enjoy myself, and I’m present. I also prefer to be in spaces where I’m seen, where I can connect with people who share my values or who have achieved things I aspire to. When it’s important, when lessons are being learned — you’ll see me there. Like I said, solitude, not isolation. Acting is public, and my life is not,” she maintained.
