Nollywood actress and content creator Annabel Apara has warned the public to disregard AI-generated images and videos falsely portraying her as pregnant on social media.
Speaking in a podcast monitored in Uyo, Apara urged fans to verify the pregnancy claims about her through official and verified social media handles before believing the rumour-mongers.
Apara, who has been gaining recognition in Nollywood since her breakthrough in 2024, said she was surprised and concerned about how quickly the fabricated content was believed and circulated.
According to her, members of the public should verify information about her through legitimate sources, especially her verified social media handles, before accepting or sharing it.
“I advise fans and the public to rely only on information shared through my verified accounts for updates about my personal life, career and activities.”
“I’ve been seeing a lot of AI-generated pictures and videos of me being supposedly ‘pregnant,’ and that isn’t true.”
Apara lamented that the viral video incident highlights the growing challenge posed by artificial intelligence-generated content, particularly for public figures whose images can be manipulated and circulated without their consent.
“Despite the experience, I remain focused on building my career across acting, content creation, writing and production.”
