How we caged Osimhen, Chukwueze, Cande reveals

The head coach of the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau Baciro Cande has revealed how they were able to stop the array of star players in the Nigerian team.

Guinea Bissau recorded a remarkable 0-1 away win over Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

During the post-match press conference, Cande revealed that before the game, they studied the videos of the Super Eagles in order to understand their playing patterns. According to him, they did a thorough analysis of all the players and how the coach usually set up his team, which helped them keep the Nigerian team quiet and the desired result.

Cande said: “We did a thorough analysis of the Super Eagles players and how the coach usually sets up his team, and the boys did the rest by sticking to our game plan with resilience and determination. It paid off, with Balde scoring what proved to be the winner.”

He added that they knew Nigeria liked to score first to destabilise their opponents and they worked to stop that.

”It wasn’t easy marking the like of Osimhen and others but in the end, we were lucky with the chance and we won. Before the game, we have been studying the videos of the Super Eagles and players to understand their playing patterns.

“I knew it was going to be a tough game and having watched them play in the previous matches, we knew they love scoring early to destabilise the opponents. We made sure we didn’t concede early and we scored a good goal and kept the lead. I am delighted with the players,” Cande concluded.
