Veteran Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey has criticised the prolonged feud between Peter and Paul Okoye of the defunct music duo, P-Square, saying their disagreement destroyed what he described as Africa’s biggest music brand.
Speaking in an interview with Goldmyne TV, which began trending on Saturday, Showkey said the impact of the brothers’ dispute went beyond the duo because of the huge following and influence P-Square had built over the years.
“P-Square destroyed the biggest brand that Africa produced. P-Square isn’t for them alone,” he said.
The music veteran argued that entertainers owe much of their success to their fans and should consider the impact of major career decisions on the people who supported them.
Drawing from his own experience, Showkey said, “As an entertainer, I can decide to lock myself in my room and celebrate my 50 years on stage.
“I am celebrating because it is the people that made me Daddy Showkey.”
He added, “If the people have made you, you are not considering them but considering how much you guys are making.”
Showkey also warned that the consequences of the brothers’ prolonged disagreement could become more evident with time, urging them to resolve their differences and preserve their relationship as siblings.
“Dragging themselves like this, the future will tell. No matter what, you guys are brothers. No matter what, you should look for a place to resolve things because you have children,” he said.
The singer further cautioned that allowing the dispute to continue could affect their children and potentially extend the conflict into the next generation.
“Tomorrow you will carry this beef to your children,” he added.
His comments come amid the lingering dispute involving Peter and Paul, as well as their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who previously managed P-Square.
The disagreements among the brothers have continued to attract public attention, while fans and other figures in the entertainment industry have repeatedly called for reconciliation.
