Indian rapper and singer Lakshya Puri, professionally known as Yung Drex, has opened up about his music, revealing that his passion for singing began when he was just five years old.
“I started singing when I was about five, and by the time I turned ten, I knew I wanted to rap seriously. Music has always felt natural to me,” he said.
Before venturing into original music, Yung Drex said he built his reputation online as a cover artist, recreating popular tracks including “Lust” by Marino and “Sprinter” by Central Cee.
These covers, he said, helped him establish a following.
The 12-year-old artiste released his debut single, “Alone,” on January 12, 2026, which has accumulated over 700,000 views on YouTube and is trending among the top 20 most-used songs on Instagram.
Speaking about the reception to his debut release, Yung Drex expressed both surprise and gratitude, saying:”I didn’t expect this kind of response so early, but I’m grateful. ‘Alone’ is very personal, and knowing people connect with it motivates me to work harder.”
