Popular TikTok personality KingDiego Ikechukwu, also known as Robert Benjamin Ikechukwu, has shared the story of his rise from an unknown user to one of the most recognised figures on Nigerian TikTok live battles.
Speaking in an interview, the creator, popularly called *KingDiego18* on TikTok, reflected on his early days on the platform and his mission to “make impact and help people.”
“Everyone on TikTok knows me as KingDiego Ikechukwu. When I first came on TikTok, I didn’t know what I was doing. I just came to connect and support people as much as I could. I like helping people and making impact in people’s lives — that’s my aim in life. My mum always told me it’s good to give hope, regardless of where people come from,” he said.
According to him, although he did not grow up in Nigeria, he proudly identifies as Nigerian.
“I am Nigerian by blood. Even though I didn’t grow up in Nigeria and don’t have the accent, that doesn’t change who I am,” he added.
Ikechukwu said he began creating funny videos and dance clips “just for people to laugh” before joining TikTok Live Box Battles around late 2024, where he quickly became known for his competitiveness and generosity.
“I started participating in live box battles because I enjoyed the challenges and supporting people. I used to go and just gift people so they could win,” he recalled.
He explained that his popularity skyrocketed because he became known as a loyal supporter and entertaining participant.
“When I started, I had about 2,000 followers. By December, I grew to over 32,000. People loved me because I was consistent, loyal, friendly, and always having fun,” he said.
Ikechukwu said he became a record-breaking champion in the battles, winning 15 times between January and March 2025.
“Nobody else won 15 times on that platform,” he noted. “When I left, other people started winning. I was the biggest obstacle.”
He added that he also supported several top TikTok streamers, including King Kali (also known as TikTok King), noting that his passion for building the community motivated his generosity.
“He made me moderator because I supported the platform massively. I was one of his biggest supporters,” Ikechukwu said.
Reflecting on his experiences, Ikechukwu said there were moments of misunderstanding and competition on the platform, which he described as “part of the growth process.”
“Sometimes, things get competitive, and people take sides. But I always tried to focus on positivity and connection. My goal has always been to lift people up, not tear anyone down,” he explained.
Despite past challenges, the creator maintained that his motivation remains rooted in positivity and community building.
“I came to TikTok to connect, help people, and make impact — that’s still who I am,” he said.
He also confirmed that he maintains cordial relationships with fellow creators and has moved forward with new collaborations.
“We’ve all moved past any differences. I’ve even posted a reconciliation video with TikTok King on my page,” he revealed.
The TikTok star also announced recent collaborations with top Nigerian creators, including Sabinus, during a TikTok Live Box Battle held on Sunday, October 26th. He is also set to feature in a major official TikTok match with popular streamer Samskid scheduled for November 23rd.
