Gunmen again resumed their nefarious activities in Imo State on Friday as they shot and killed four youths in Abacheke in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area.
According to a source from the area,the gunmen were said to have stormed an open shop in the community and opened fire at the vitims who were seated in front of the place.
The hoodlums immediately fled the scene after four of the youths died instantly while another who was seriously wounded was rushed to the hospital,the source added.
Confirming the incident, the State police spokesperson, Henry Okoye said the command has already began an investigation to arrest the culprits .
Narrating the incident in a statement he released to newsmen in Owerri, Okoye said “On 8/03/2024 at about 1830hts, the hoodlums swiftly attacked Abacheke Community in their numbers, riding motorcycles and firing sporadically during which five residents were seriously hit.
” In a swift response, the Area Commander in charge of Ohaji Egbema and other tactical teams mobilized to the scene, the victims were immediately rushed to the hospital where four were confirmed dead on arrival while one is currently receiving medical treatment at the Hospital. Intense operation is ongoing in the area.
“While normalcy has been restored in the area, a comprehensive investigation is ongoing to fish out the hoodlums responsible for the dastardly act and make them face the full wrath of the law”. Okoye stated.
