Gunmen suspected to be bandits have been reportedly attacked and killed two Nigeria immigration Service (NIS) officers at Kangiwa town, a border community with Niger Republic in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi state.
Kebbi State NIS Command spokesman DSI Abdullahi Isah, who confirmed this in a statement made available to the media in Birnin Kebbi, stated that the suspected bandits in a group lunched attack on the gallant officers at the entry point in Gari Garba 12 kilometres away from Kangiwa town which resulted into the death of the two officers while on duty at the border.
According to him, the deceased are Isah Nafui (DSI 34057) and Garba Haruna Fana (NIS 17796), both of whom have been buried according to Islamic rites.
“While the Command mourns the death of the gallant officers, investigation has been lunched to nip in the bud the perpetrators of the dastardly act,” he stated.
“The unprovoked attack and killing of the gallant officers will not distract them from their official duties of effectively manning the borders to ward off criminal elements in Nigeria.”
He prayed that God give the victims’ families the fortitude to bear their loss.
