Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed two Immigration Service (NIS) officers at Kangiwa a border community with Niger Republic, under Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Kebbi state NIS Public Relations Officer (PRO), Abdullahi Isah, in a statement, said that the suspected bandits lunched attack on the officers at the entry point in Gari Garba,12 kilometres away from Kangiwa Town which resulted in the death of the two officers while on duty at the border.
According to him, the deceased :Isah Nafui, DSI 34057, and Garba Haruna Fana, NIS 17796, have been buried according to Islamic rites.
He said: “While the Command mourns the death of the gallant officers, investigations have been launched to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
“The unprovoked attack and killing of the officers will not distract us from official duties of effectively manning the borders to ward off criminal elements in Nigeria”
He prayed to Allah to give the families fortitude to bear the loss”.
