Gunmen attack Ebonyi police division, disrupt palliative distribution

Gunmen on Tuesday, attacked Ohaukwu Police Division at Ezzamgbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and set vehicles ablaze.

No casualty was recorded as policemen on duty fought back and repelled the hoodlums.

Chairman of the local government, Ikechukwu Odono confirmed the incident.

He noted that no life was lost but that the attackers burnt some vehicles in the police station.

He also stated that the incident disrupted the distribution of palliatives which was going on in the council headquarters as people ran for safety.

A source said that the gunmen numbering about eight came in a bus and started shooting which caused panic at the neighborhood.

“Everyone including the Chairman of the Council ran the run of their lives to avoid injuries from the gun shots,” the source said.
