Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted the Enogie (Duke) of Ukhiri community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Enogie Aigbe.

The gunmen were said to have stormed his Ukhiri palace along the Benin-Abraka road and shot sporadically into the air before whisking their victim away.

It was learnt that the gunmen came in an unregistered car, which they reportedly set ablaze and made away with a Nissan Sunny car belonging to the Enogie, who is said to be a retired Chief Superintendent of Police.

Enogie Aigbe took over the dukedom after the death of his father some years ago.

Spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached for comments, but dependable police sources said a crack team has been put in place to rescue the Enogie.
