A group, Every Lagosian Matters (ELM), has backed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for Senate President, saying he has qualifications for the exalted position.
At a press conference in Lagos, the team leader of ELM, Kenneth Ibe-Kalu congratulated Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on his emergence as president-elect.
It called on political leaders of thought to synergise and always sue for national reconciliation and peaceful co-existence as factors of national survival.
“To this end, we appeal to the APCs leadership including the president-elect to consider zoning the office of the Senate president to the South East in the spirit of federal character principle.
“Furthermore, the most qualified among the senators from the South East who have cognate and requisite experience, and exposure about Nigeria’s diversity is distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, senate chief whip, former governor and incisive entrepreneur and political bridge builder. This will go a long way to rejuvenate trust and contribute to the development of our nation.”
It also urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reconcile and harmonise all interest groups with a view to galvanising Lagosians for the task ahead of building a greater Lagos.
ELM called on Lagosians to join hands with the governor to support the developmental vision of the governor of Lagos State.
“We use this opportunity to call on all contestants to see the election as a competition where a winner must emerge and losing is not a sign of weakness but rather time and chance happens to them all.
“We call on Sanwo-Olu to reconcile and harmonise all interest groups with a view to galvanising Lagosians for the task ahead of building a greater Lagos. We call on Lagosians to join hands as usual to support the developmental vision of the acovernor of Lagos State as he commence his last term in office from 29th May, 2023, while we would like to remind his excellency to use the next four years to build enduring legacies.
“We thank the people and leaders of Ndigbo and all every other ethic that show love and support for the Governor and the APC during the campaign and election.”
