A coalition of civil society groups and non-governmental organisations in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has condemned what it described as politically motivated attacks against the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim.
The coalition made up of the Keffi Development Foundation (KDF), Keffi Peoples’ Forum (KPF) and the 70s/80s Keffi Elite Forum, expressed strong solidarity with the minister while commending President Bola Tinubu for appointing her to the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
In a statement by its chairman, Lawal Ramalan Maizabo, the coalition said Suleiman-Ibrahim has “consistently demonstrated visionary leadership, transparency, and deep commitment to the welfare of women, children and vulnerable groups. “Her appointment is a clear testimony to President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to competence, inclusiveness, and national balance. The Honourable Minister has justified the confidence reposed in her through her record of service, loyalty, and deep understanding of national issues.”
The coalition recalled her past roles as National Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Minister of State for Police Affairs, and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, describing her as a patriotic leader with passion for humanity and efficiency.
On the recent allegations circulating on social media and some online platforms, the coalition said they were “false, mischievous, and without merit. “Our attention has been drawn to a series of baseless and politically motivated publications aimed at tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs. These malicious attacks are clearly orchestrated by a few individuals with vested interests who seek to mislead the public and undermine the unity of Nasarawa State,” the statement read in part. The coalition urged citizens of Nasarawa State to shun divisive tendencies and rally behind the minister in her national assignment.
“We call on all well-meaning citizens of Nasarawa State, across all zones, to rise above politics of bitterness and support the Honourable Minister.
What our state needs now is unity and collective focus on development, not campaigns of calumny designed to distract from delivering good governance,” Maizabo added.
The groups also appealed to media practitioners to uphold professionalism by verifying facts before publication.
While reaffirming their loyalty to President Tinubu’s administration, the coalition expressed confidence that Hajia Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim will continue to uphold the ideals of integrity, compassion, and service to humanity in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
