Nigeria ordered an audit of the payroll of its armed forces after court allegations that 558.2 million naira ($2.8 million) was diverted illegally every month by top air force officials.

Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun “directed an investigation” after a witness in the corruption trial of former defense chief Alex Badeh made the allegation while giving testimony, according to an e-mailed statement by the finance ministry.
