The Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey are to lead a team of eminent state officials to engage President Tinubu on concerns of marginalization.
The mandate is contained in a communique issued at the end of an enlarged caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress in Calabar.
A communiqué was issued at the end of the meeting, chaired by the Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey also included the deputy governor and four other officials in its drafting committee.
The communique partly “called for the immediate formation of a high-powered delegation of eminent Cross Riverians—led by Governor Otu and his deputy—to engage President Tinubu in Abuja over the perceived marginalization of the state in federal appointments and infrastructural considerations.

“The stakeholders also expressed profound gratitude to the President for approving and initiating the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Special Agro-Processing Zone project in Cross River”.
The communique also acknowledged the governor’s efforts in curbing insecurity, emphasized the need for regular engagement with key stakeholders and resolved to be united.
The expanded caucus equally passed a vote of confidence and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey for a second term in office come 2027.
Governor Otu in his remarks thanked the stakeholders for their steadfast support, solidarity and pledged to leave the state by 2031 “significantly better than I met it”.
