Gov. Kefas has shown uncommon commitment to union issue – TSU VC

The Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University Professor Sunday Bako on Tuesday said that the State Governor and visitor to the University Governor Agbu Kefas has shown uncommon and unprecedented commitment to resolving concerns of unions in the institution.

 

Bako who disclosed this during an interview with journalists in his office said that the commitment of the governor has made it easy to resolve the resolve the strike actions embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) since last December.

 

The don disclosed that the University has rescheduled the disrupted examination to commence next Monday after a successful tripartite  engagement involving the union, school management and the government representatives.

 

“I must say that the government has shown uncommon commitment to resolution of union issues in the school. Most of the issues in contention have been lingering for more Ten years but he has taken them up and is making giant strides to settle them once and for all.

 

“I am pleased to inform you that we have reached almost all agreement with the non academic staff and we believe that they will call off their strike as well in the next few hours. Following the development, the university has officially reschedule the suspended exams to be continued next week Monday, 27 January 2025”.

 

“The creation of the new Ministry of Tertiary institutions is a welcome development that has made things a lot easier. I think that soon we would be able to put all the issues behind us a forge ahead more smoothly without intermittent disruption of the academic calendar.”
