Gov. Bello’s ADC invades Kogi NUJ with thugs, policemen

Governor Yahaya Bello’s aide de camp, Usman Shugaba, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, has invaded the press centre of Kogi State office of Nigerian Union of Journalists, in Lokoja with armed thugs and policemen.

The ADC who arrived at the arena located on Lord Luggard Road in 12 Hilux vehicles with stern-looking thugs and policemen, said they had information that ballot papers were been thump printed at the press centre.

The ADC and his men after ransacking the NUJ premises, left without seeing any incriminating materials but with a promise to continue in their search.

When the invasion took place, all working journalists were on the field for election duty.

The invaders were said to have met only the operators of the bar and other staff of the centre.

When contacted over the invasion, the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Busari, said he was not aware of it as he did not give such order. He promised to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the NUJ has condemned in strong terms, the invasion of their union office while they were answering the call of duty.

The NUJ has called for an emergency meeting of its members to decide on the next line of action.
