Barely three weeks to governorship election, Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has dissolved the 25 local government councils in the state.

The councils, which stand dissolved from 12:00 midnight, yesterday, follows the expiration of their three years tenure in office.

A statement from the office of  the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ketso, and signed by the Press Secretary,  Maimuna Kolo, noted that the councils were dissolved after a two and half hours meeting with the 25 chairmen, by the deputy governor, at the Government House.

The statement directed the directors of personal management in all the local government councils to take over the leadership of the affairs of the councils.

The governor, while thanking the council chairmen for their contribution and sacrifices to the state, reminded them that they are still members of the party.

The dissolution of the councils is coming barely 24 hours after the governor rounded off his campaign tour of the council areas.
