Troops of the 81 Division in Lagos deployed to the North East will, henceforth, receive their remuneration and welfare package as at when due.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Ebenezar Oyefolu, gave the assurance while speaking with journalists at the opening of the 81 Division Finance Training week in Lago. He said if the salaries of the soldiers fighting in the North East are not paid as at when due, it would affect the morale of the soldiers and also the families they left behind.
“The conference is important in the sense that we have soldiers from 81 Division who are deployed to the North East. If their salaries don’t go into their various accounts, it will affect their morale in the north east and that of their family at home. The GOC, however, told the officers and soldiers at the conference not to forget that the prevailing security challenges, especially in the North East require that the army be more pragmatic and prudent in the utilisation of scarce resources.
