Girl raped, killed in Taraba

From Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo

Eighteen years old Miss Wassa Joel Tuwa in Yorro local government area of Taraba state has been raped and killed by the yet-to-be-identified person(s).

A Family source, Mr Ayuba Solomon Bissa told our correspondent that, miss Tuwa who was 18 years old, was gang-raped and killed behind a mountain near Jalingo.

According to Ayuba, the victim left their family house in Jalingo to the village in Lankaviri near Jalingo on Saturday evening and decided to follow through a small market road around Lankaviri to make her journey shorter when the criminals killed her.

He also disclosed that a medical autopsy has reviewed that the victim was gang-raped before she was eventually killed.

“My younger sister (Wassa), left our family house here along Bishop’s coat Jalingo, to the village in Lankaviri on Saturday where the killers met her.

“Until Sunday morning when a little boy who was hawking firewood discovered her body by the roadside and ran back to inform his parents of what he saw. Both the boy’s parents and other residents moved to the scene and discovered it was the lifeless body of my younger sister Wassa.

“We did not touch her, we invited the security personnel operating in the area to see and advise on what to do. The security men comprises of the military and the police, came and advised us to convey the corpse to the mortuary and allow for a security investigation.

“We took the corpse to Federal medical centre Jalingo and the doctor after conducting the needed test, confirmed to us that the victim was gang-raped before she was killed.

“I wish to appeal to the security operatives to carry out their investigation so that the perpetrators would be brought to justice,” Ayuba narrated.
