The Great Independence Hall Alumni Association (GIHAA) of the University of Ibadan is set to mark a significant occasion o Tuesday with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art public address system and the unveiling of a redesigned alumni logo at the historic Great Independence Hall on the university’s Ibadan campus.
In a statement, by GIHAA’s President, Omotola Ifafore, the event symbolises the alumni’s ongoing commitment to enriching the student experience and strengthening community ties within the hall.
It highlighted that the new public address system will enhance communication across the hall, streamline the coordination of student activities, and nurture a more cohesive community spirit among residents.
The commissioning ceremony will be graced by Professor Joseph Olutayo Yaniwura, a retired statistics professor and one of the hall’s original residents. His involvement, the statement said, underscores the lasting legacy and active participation of former occupants in the hall’s continuous development.
Alongside the system launch, attendees will witness the debut of the association’s new logo—an emblem crafted to embody the unity, heritage, and progressive vision of GIHAA.
“This occasion transcends the installation of equipment or a logo launch; it is about honoring our legacy, reinforcing our identity, and embracing our duty to give back. We are excited to contribute meaningfully to the hall’s growth and to strengthen the bonds between past and current residents of Independence Hall,” Ifafore said.
