Intense fighting continues to grip the Gaza Strip, casting a shadow over hopes for a ceasefire. Over the past 24 hours, Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 50 Palestinians, according to Gaza health officials.
The escalation comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken concluded a regional visit with no truce agreement secured.
The Israeli military claimed to have destroyed weapons depots and militants by reportedly hitting about thirty targets throughout Gaza. An observation tower, launch pads, and tunnels were among the targets.
The strikes extended to residential areas, with a school and nearby house in Gaza City hit, resulting in at least three dead and 15 injured. The Israeli military claimed the school was being used by Hamas.
Seven Palestinians were killed in a different airstrike on a camp for displaced people close to Khan Younis. The Israeli military justified its actions by claiming that they are intended to hit Hamas operatives operating in civilian areas.
