The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has pleaded with the Republic of Korea government for a healthy bilateral relationship with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

The former governor of Kano State made the appeal when he received Kim Pankyu, Vice Admiral (retd), the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

Ganduje, who based his request on the Ambassador’s career background as a retired naval officer to the rank of Admiral, expressed confidence that the relationship would be mutually beneficial.

He also called for a relationship between the ruling parties of both countries, pleading for cross-fertilisation of ideas through visitations.

Speaking earlier, the Ambassador extolled the long-standing bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Korea and congratulated the leadership of the APC over the recent victory in Ondo State.

Ganduje, in his plea, claimed that the policies of President Tinubu are the ones that can attract investment from foreign partners, specifically Korea.

According to him: “We are so honoured to see you kick-start this relationship between my office and your own. There is no doubt that this will consolidate the bilateral relationship between Korea and Nigeria.”

“We want to congratulate you for hosting a successful Korean-African summit. Nigeria was well represented, and this is the outcome of the summit. It is a follow-up to what the bilateral relationships will be.”

“I am so happy to hear that you are a retired naval officer to the rank of Admiral, and with your experience, you will be able to assist Nigeria, especially in the Marine and Blue Economy. You know your history in waters, mainly oceans and seas, so that Nigeria will benefit.”

“I am happy to say that the policies of President Tinubu are the ones that can attract investment from foreign partners, specifically your country, Korea.”

“As far as we clamour for foreign investment, we shall also assure your country of mutual benefits from Nigeria because it is supposed to be a symbiotic relationship, not a one-way traffic,” he said.

Speaking further, Ganduje said: “We are also very grateful to see that we have a very good relationship between our party, the APC, and your ruling party. I was told that you went through an election about two years ago which produced new leadership. I think that it is time for us to exchange visits to see how we can share experiences.”

“As ruling parties, we share similar challenges and similar opportunities because, as ruling parties, we are always ready to defend and recycle the government in power. At the end of the tenure, it is the party as an institution that will ensure success in the election.”

“I am happy that you noticed recently that we won off-season elections in Edo and Ondo governorship polls. By congratulating us, it means that you are following the political activities in the country.”

“We are also interested in following the political activities in your country, and that will help promote the relationship between the two ruling parties,” he said.
