The Landmark Event Centre, Lagos, came alive on November 8 as The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) held its 19th edition themed “Threads of Legacy.”

The ceremony showcased some of the continent’s brightest young innovators, leaders and creatives, reinforcing the awards’ position as Africa’s premier youth recognition platform.

Hosted by actor Mike Afolarin and Kenyan media personality Azeezah Hashim — the first East African to host the event — the night delivered elegance, energy and spirited celebration.

The red carpet, anchored by ex–BBNaija star Sabrina Idukpaye, featured its first-ever live podcast session with CreativiTea host Lynda Aguocha. Musical acts Savy Henry and Naomi Mac set the tone with soulful performances.

The event drew an impressive lineup of influential personalities including Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani, Omowunmi Dada, Deyemi Okanlawon, Sasha P, Bayo Omoboriowo and Gaise Baba.

Executive Director of The Future Project, Ayodeji Razaq, praised the 2025 honourees, noting that their work continues to strengthen Africa’s collective legacy.

A nostalgic highlight came when TFAA co-founders, Chude Jideonwo and Adebola Williams, reflected on the awards’ 20-year journey and urged young Africans to pursue their dreams boldly.

Guinness World Record-holder, medical doctor and visual artist Fola David won the coveted Young Person of the Year Award. The ceremony also debuted a Performing Arts category, with hype man Olugbesan Olatubosun (Big Bimi) becoming its first winner — a historic nod to hype culture’s growing influence.

A tribute to late broadcaster Dan Foster added emotional depth, complemented by a spoken-word performance from Victory Ashaka. Music icons Faze and Ruggedman thrilled guests with nostalgic hits, while Zadok, Dwin The Stoic and DOTTi The Deity delivered standout performances.

Sponsored by Knorr and Amstel Malta, TFAA 2025 celebrated creativity, community and the power of African youth.
