Embattled Vice Chancellors of Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Azure and Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professors Olusola Oyewole and Adebiyi Daramola, left office, yesterday..
The tenure of the two vice chancellors ended on Tuesday, after serving a single term of five years, as stipulated in the University Autonomy Act of 2007.
A new vice chancellor has been appointed for FUTA. He is Prof. Joseph Adeola Fuwape. At FUNAAB, the Governing Council, at its 94th meeting approved the recommendation of Senate and appointed Prof. Ololade Enikuomekin as acting VC, with effect from yesterday.
Oyewole and Daramola are facing trial, having been accused by the Economy and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of N956 million fraud. Based on the court cases, the Federal Government suspended the two VCs but the FUNAAB council reinstated Daramola, which enabled him hand over to his successor.
