Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the reappointment of the Paramount Ruler of Emohua Kingdom, Sergeant Chidi Awuse, as Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.

The appointment takes immediate effect, according to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Dagogo Wokoma.

Awuse, who also chairs the South-South Monarchs’ Forum, previously led the state council from May 27, 2023, to June 21, 2024. He was succeeded by Eze Chike Worlu-Wodo.

His return follows Worlu-Wodo’s exit from the position amid reports of health challenges.

The reappointment comes two days after Fubara indicated that a change in the council’s leadership was needed while declaring open its 126th, 127th and 128th quarterly meetings on Wednesday, October 28.

The governor’s remarks preceded the announcement of Awuse’s return on Friday, October 30.

Awuse resumes leadership of the traditional rulers’ council, which is expected to provide a platform for monarchs across the state.
