Following incessant diversion of patients by some unpatriotic staff of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Owerri, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Kingsley I. Achigbu, has inaugurated a special taskforce on the eradication of patients diversion and other related matters.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony which held on Thursday last week, Dr Achigbu stated that the purpose of setting up the taskforce was to discourage the act of patients diversion, as well as other sharp practices which could negatively affect the growth of the hospital.
The CMD, who is a consultant paediatrician, enjoined the taskforce members to ensure that any act that is inimical to the economic well-being of the hospital is nipped in the bud.
He described patients diversion as worrisome and urged members of the team to ensure that it was brought to its barest minimum.
He also charged the taskforce to tackle the problem of hawking in the hospital, adding that the nuisance value of hawkers has become a menace to the health facility.
The CMD reminded them that their job is timeless, assuring them of management backing while urging them to carry out the assignment with a human face.
Oath of office was administered on the taskforce members by the Director of Legal, Barrister Nnenna Ekeocha.
The committee is headed by Dr Kingsley Nwafor.
Some top management staff members who graced the event include: the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee ( CMAC), Dr Denning Chukwuman and the Director of Admin, Mr Kelechi Otuneme.
