The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has approved the promotion of 7,472 personnel as part of efforts to strengthen its workforce, reward performance and improve road safety operations across the country.
The promotion covers 2,134 officers and 5,338 marshals who were found deserving based on their service, competence, discipline and commitment to their duties.
The Corps said the elevation goes beyond a change in rank, stressing that it comes with increased responsibility and an expectation of higher professional standards and better service to the motoring public.
Under the approved arrangement, Heads of Departments, Corps Officers, Heads of Special Units and Commanding Officers are expected to decorate the newly promoted personnel under their commands between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28, 2026.
The decoration ceremony will be conducted in line with the FRSC’s Administrative Instruction on the Decoration of Newly Promoted Officers and Marshals.
Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the promotion as recognition of past performance as well as a call for greater responsibility.
Mohammed urged the beneficiaries to ensure that their new positions translate into stronger leadership, accountability, professionalism and effectiveness in their respective assignments.
He said the ability of the FRSC to deliver on its mandate depended not only on patrol vehicles, technology and enforcement tools but also on the discipline, quality and commitment of its personnel.
The Corps Marshal congratulated the promoted officers and marshals and urged them to justify the confidence placed in them by the FRSC, the Federal Government and Nigerians.
He further charged them to maintain discipline both on and off duty, respect members of the public, uphold the integrity of the Corps and remain committed to enforcing road safety standards.
Mohammed noted that promotion should serve as a tool for developing a professional and responsive institution capable of tackling emerging challenges in road safety management.
The development comes as the FRSC continues to expand its operational, technological and public enlightenment programmes aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and improving compliance with traffic regulations.
According to the Corps, maintaining a motivated and professionally equipped workforce is essential to sustaining these interventions and achieving improved road safety outcomes.
The newly promoted personnel are expected to assume their new responsibilities with renewed dedication and contribute to the FRSC’s mandate of protecting lives and property on Nigerian roads.
