No fewer than 16 bodies have been recovered from two communities in Adamawa State on Wednesday following terrorist attacks in the area.
Some terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram invaded Shewen and Kirchinga communities in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State late Tuesday night.
The attack, described by many in Madagali as coordinated, forced most residents to flee their homes.
Sources said dozens were, however, caught in the confusion that ensued following heavy shooting that lasted for an hour.
At least 16 people, including the newly appointed village head of Kirchinga, were killed. Some residents were still missing as at Wednesday afternoon.

The terrorist assault on the two communities is one in a string of attacks in Adamawa and Borno states, where Boko Haram and its split, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), appear to have stepped up their terror activities in recent times.
The military Joint Task Force, Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, is yet to officially comment on the attack.
Shewen Boko Haram invaded Kirchinga community in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State yesterday, Tuesday. The terrorists came on motorcycles and bicycles and started firing into houses and into the air. The shooting forced residents to run in different directions.
Eighteen dead bodies have been recovered so far, including the newly appointed village head in Kirchinga community of Madagali LGA, Adamawa State. Sadly, many people are still missing. A parishioner in our church, Mr Ignatus Papka, is among those killed.
Military reaction There was no immediate response from the military because the community is remote and it is the first attack.
Terrorist attacks have been on the rise in recent times, especially in Adamawa and Borno states. Both states and Yobe have suffered 16 years of terror attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP.
