Foundation empowers 105 widows, paid hospital bill, children school fees

Smile Attract Smile (SAS), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), targeting widows has empowered 105 widows across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mrs Bukola Adewumi, the founder of the NGO, said at an event organised for widows on Sunday in Abuja that the aimed was to ensure that no widow went to bed hungry.

The foundation also paid for the hospital bill of some the widows sick children ,while also paying for those who could not afford school fees for their children.

She assured the widows that the foundation would always stand by them in most of the challenges they are faced with, adding that it would always shared in their pains.

According to her, all we want to do is to see how to put smiles on their faces and encourage them to see themselves as important people in the society no matter the challenges they are facing.

She urged them not to be lazy or depend on people for survival, stressing that the attitude of begging to survive must be rooted out, while asking them to ensure that they get busy.

This she said was to ensure that they were able to provide for their children.

“Our future plans is to see how we can empower 500 widows in 2022 with business start up capital and engage them in different trade.

” Our plan for 2022 is to build a training center where we can train widows on different skills and ensure that they have something doing that can help put food on their table, pay school fee and take care of their other needs,” she said.

She called on well meaning Nigerians to support and create good environment for the widows, ” so we can together have a Nigeria of our dream by alleviating hunger and poverty among our widows.”

The foundation distributed food items such as rice, vegetable oil, bread, sphaggeti, with clothing material and shoes among others.

Mrs, Evenly samson. Cordelia Anyanwu, Abigail Bello smong othes were some of the beneficiaries from the foundation’s gesture.

The widows commended the foundation for the donation, while urging other spirited Nigerians to emulate the foundation.
