Seventy-six indigent students are to benefit from the Agbonjague Leemon Ikpea Foundation scholarship for 2025/2026 academic session.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Dr. Difference Irabor disclosed this at the presentation of cheques to 19 lucky students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
He disclosed that 25 beneficiaries are from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma while 32 others cut across tertiary institutions in the country.
Dr. Irabor said since inception in 2012, the foundation has trained over 600 indigent students and artisans nationwide with the University of Benin leading with 244 beneficiaries.
He maintained that the scholarship is not just about financial assistance but an investment geared towards brightening the future of the youths.
On the part of the Vice Chancellor of UNIIBEN, Prof. Edoba Omeregie, commended Chief Leemon Ikpea, founder of the foundation for sustaining the scholarship intervention for 14 years running.
He described the foundation’s continued partnership with the university as a testament of a genuine and exceptional spirit of philanthropy.
Prof. Edoba charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the scholarship by maintaining strong academic performance.
On his part, Dean, Students Affairs, Prof. Fredrick Ekhaise lauded the relentless effort of the financier of the foundation; Chief Ikpea for bringing succour to the hopeless when needed most.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Kelly Ojogba, expressed profound gratitude to the founder of the foundation, Chief Ikpea for putting smiles on faces of the indigent students.
He promised they would make judicious use of the money and pledged to make the donor proud.
