First Lady Mourns, Lau, President of National Council of Women Societies

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed shock and sadness upon learning of the passing of Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau, the National President of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), which occurred on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024.

She said the loss is deeply felt in the struggle for women’s emancipation, as Lau was known for dedicating her life to empowering and uplifting women across Nigeria.

Mrs Tinubu noted Lau’s tireless efforts, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting impact on the lives of countless women, adding that she was a beacon of strength and a source of inspiration, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

The First Lady extended her condolences to Hajiya Lau’s husband, children, family, friends, and the entire NCWS community. She prayed that they find comfort in the memories of her remarkable life and her many contributions to the cause of women’s rights and social justice.

Mrs Tinubu said: “I received the news of the passing of the National President of the National Council of Women Societies Hajiya Lami Adamu Lau with shock.

“What a great loss in the struggle for the emancipation of our womenfolk!

“Hajiya Lau’s dedication to the empowerment and upliftment of women across Nigeria was unparalleled. Her tireless efforts, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark. She was a beacon of strength and a source of inspiration for countless women, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

“My thoughts and prayers are with her husband, children, family, friends, and the entire NCWS community. May you find comfort in the memories of her remarkable life and her many contributions to the cause of women’s rights and social justice.”

The First Lady also offered a prayer for Hajiya Lau’s soul, asking Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljanah Fridaus, the highest level of paradise in Islamic tradition.
