First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has expanded food outreach programme in Nasarawa State.
This is even as she has assured that that administration of President Bola Tinubu will continue to do all to support and encourage Nigerians, families and vulnerable communities.
In a statement issued by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady, represented by the wife of the Vice President Hajia Nana Shettima, visited Lafia on Tuesday to oversee the distribution of a trailer-load of assorted food items to Internally Displaced Persons, Persons with Disabilities, Leper Colonies, and other vulnerable groups in the state.
“The Food Outreach Scheme is specially designed to provide support to the underprivileged, in line with the resolve of the administration of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to leave no one behind in ensuring food security and sufficiency in the country,” the First Lady’s representative stated.
This latest food distribution in Nasarawa follows similar outreach efforts in the Federal Capital Territory and Kano State. The First Lady announced that the programme will next move to Benue State, with plans to eventually cover all states across Nigeria.
“By the grace of God, our next stop will be in Benue State, while other states will also benefit in due course,” she said.
In addition to the food outreach, the Renewed Hope Initiative also has programs focused on health, agriculture, education, and economic empowerment to improve the lives of families nationwide.
“The Renewed Hope Initiative also has other programmes focusing on Health, Agriculture, Education and Economic Empowerment to better the lives of families in the Nation,” the First Lady’s representative explained.
She explained that the Renewed Hope Initiative offers additional projects centred on health, agriculture, education, and economic empowerment in addition to its Social Investment plan, all aimed at improving the lives of families across the country.
To date, the First Lady said RHI has, among many other efforts, given financial support to women farmers, donated agricultural tools, given several scholarships to tertiary students, trained women in ICT, and supported the elderly financially. A further announcement she made was the inclusion of 1,200 rice bags in the food packets that the groups would receive.
Furthermore, the First Lady revealed that the N50,000 grant from the Renewed Hope Initiative will shortly be awarded to 1,000 female small-business owners in every state and the Federal Capital Territory.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by his deputy Emmanuel Akabe, expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s efforts, stating that the food distribution has brought great relief to the vulnerable groups in the state.
“Deliver our message to the president, deliver our message to the First Lady. We are behind them, we appreciate them and we say well done,” the deputy governor said.
The First Lady’s food outreach is part of the administration’s broader commitment to supporting and uplifting all Nigerians, leaving no one behind in the pursuit of national development and prosperity.
