Firms unveil joint venture to boost Nigeria’s logistics sector

CEVA

Global supply chain company and Nigerian logistics firm have formed a joint venture, CEVA EFL Limited, in a move aimed at expanding logistics services in Nigeria and strengthening connections between West Africa and global markets.

The new company combines EFL Africa’s local infrastructure and operational experience with CEVA Logistics’ international network spanning more than 170 countries. The partners said the venture is designed to provide integrated logistics solutions for businesses operating in Nigeria and across the region.

Nigeria, regarded as one of Africa’s largest logistics and trade markets, serves as a key gateway to West Africa. The companies said the partnership will strengthen their presence in the country while supporting trade flows between Nigeria and international markets.

Under the arrangement, CEVA EFL will offer a range of logistics and customs services, including dedicated barge operations to transport containers from Lagos ports to Inland Container Depots (ICDs). The companies said the service is expected to reduce reliance on congested road networks and shorten cargo transit times.

The joint venture also has access to 140,000 square metres of ICD facilities located in Ikorodu and Apapa, including an export processing terminal. In addition, it will provide customs clearance services through an in-house licensed team to facilitate faster cargo processing.

Speaking on the development, Sylvain Kluba, Vice President of Finance for India, Middle East and Africa at CEVA Logistics, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening trade links between Nigeria and the rest of the world.

“This joint venture represents a bold step forward in our commitment to connecting Nigeria and West Africa to the world. By combining CEVA’s global reach and logistics expertise with EFL’s deep local knowledge and infrastructure, the CEVA EFL joint venture is uniquely positioned to deliver seamless and reliable solutions to our customers,” he said.

According to him, the partnership will help create a logistics ecosystem capable of supporting business growth and unlocking new opportunities across the region. Chief Executive Officer of EFL, Yemi Adunola, described the venture as a major step towards transforming logistics services in Nigeria and West Africa.

“We are thrilled to partner with CEVA Logistics to launch CEVA EFL. This collaboration underscores our shared vision of transforming logistics in Nigeria and West Africa. By leveraging our combined strengths, we are not only addressing the challenges of this complex market but also creating value for our customers through efficient, integrated and customer-focused solutions,” Adunola said.

The companies also noted that the partnership is expected to contribute to skills development and knowledge transfer within Nigeria’s logistics industry while supporting the growth of local operations and regional trade.
