The Federal Government has secured the conviction of 386 out of 508 suspected terrorists arraigned before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), disclosed this at the conclusion of the mass trial.

He said eight defendants were discharged, while two were acquitted.

The trial of the remaining 112 suspects, he said, has been adjourned to June 15 to 18, 2026.

According to Fagbemi, those convicted received jail terms, ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment, depending on the severity of their offences.

The convicts were found guilty of participating in terrorist activities, particularly in northern Nigeria, where over 2,000 people were reportedly killed and property destroyed.

He added that others were convicted for supporting terrorism through logistics, funding, and supplying food to members of the proscribed Boko Haram insurgency group.

Fagbemi expressed confidence that the convictions would send a strong message that terrorism and related crimes would not be tolerated.

He commended the 10 Federal High Court judges, who sat during the Easter period to expedite the trials, describing their effort as a significant sacrifice in the interest of justice.

Fagbemi also noted that the proceedings were observed by key organisations, including Amnesty International, the Nigerian Bar Association, and the National Human Rights Commission, to ensure transparency and adherence to due process.

He further appreciated the media for its coverage of the trials.
