The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched a nationwide digital skills training programme aimed at equipping young Nigerians across all six geopolitical zones with the essential competencies required to thrive in today’s digital economy.

The initiative—implemented in collaboration with LEARNFACTORY Nigeria, an official partner of the Federal Government’s 3MTT (3 Million Technical Talent) programme—began simultaneously across multiple ICT and CBT centres nationwide. The programme targets 50,000 young Nigerians in its first phase, with participants drawn from both urban centres and underserved communities.

Speaking at the national flag-off, the Honourable Minister of Youth Development noted that the digital training had already commenced in the South-East and South-West, with additional centres in the North-Central, North-East, North-West, and South-South rolling out in the coming days. He emphasized the strategic importance of equipping Nigeria’s youth with globally competitive digital skills.

“Digital skills are essential in the 21st century—career readiness, innovation, education, productivity, and global competitiveness all depend heavily on them,” the Minister said. “This programme reflects the government’s commitment to preparing our young people for the opportunities of the future. Our partnership with LEARNFACTORY, a key 3MTT partner, ensures that this training meets global standards.”

Programme Manager Oluwatobi Olajide explained that the training would run for three months and is designed to ensure accessibility and broad participation across the federation. He urged participants to approach the programme with focus and dedication.

“We are empowering you to begin leading your best intended lives today,” Olajide stated. “Your commitment to this training will shape your future and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development. Take this opportunity seriously—for your good and for the good of the society.”

The Honourable Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation also addressed participants, describing the programme as a transformative opportunity that would empower them for life and accelerate Nigeria’s digital growth. He encouraged youths to push themselves, strive for excellence, and channel their new skills into solving local challenges.

Leaders from various states and local governments across Nigeria praised the initiative, calling it a timely intervention in the fight against youth unemployment and a major step toward positioning the country’s young population for relevance in the global digital marketplace. Many pledged continued collaboration and support for the programme’s long-term impact.
