…Following Fulham deal collapse
Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, who has been a key player for Fenerbahçe in recent years, has become a source of frustration for the club this season.
The management has held multiple meetings with the Nigerian player and his agent, but all offers have been rejected. Consequently, a surprising move was made to transfer Mimovic to right back, prompting the decision to exclude Samuel from the team.
Fenerbahçe had been expecting significant offers for the 27-year-old defender, particularly from interested parties in England. However, after previously turning down offers in the double-digit millions, the team found that the recent proposal from Fulham was insufficient and ultimately reached an impasse as the winter transfer window closed in major leagues across England and Europe.
With the transfer window closing in Turkey, it appears difficult for Samuel to don the Fenerbahçe jersey again this season. The club is currently facing a quota shortage, as they can only issue licenses for 14 foreign players while currently having 17 on their roster.
Though the licenses for Becao and Oosterwolde, both sidelined due to injuries, will be suspended, one more player must still be excluded.
Moreover, following Maximin’s failure to transfer to Napoli, Samuel seems poised to be the next player to be left out. There is a strong possibility that the talented defender will leave the club for free at the end of the season.
