The new Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. (Mrs) Francisca Nwafulugo, yesterday, said she would deepen research and improve entrepreneurship to make the institution provide solution to Nigeria’s technological quest.

Nwafulugo, who is the first female rector of the institution, while addressing the staff and students on resumption of office, said she would want to make positive history at the institution.

She said: “The basic quest for an outstanding institution is to provide quality education to students and an excellent academic environment, accreditation and reaccreditation of new and existing programmes. Also, enhancement of research quality and reforming the current research management by increasing the ability of our students’ research to address the problems faced by humanity, and achieving international leverage and prestige in relevant fields, will move an institution forward.

“We shall motivate our dynamic team of professional teaching staff with academic integrity, to produce students filled with patriotism, aspiration, global vision and innovative spirits and strong sense of commitment to society and to themselves.”

Urging the staff and students to come with her to a new beginning for the polytechnic, Nwafulugo promised to use her knowledge and contact within the system, haven been a lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic for 26 years, to position the institution as one of the best of its contemporaries.
