Federal Polytechnics Elect New Officials, Chairman

From Fred Ezeh, Abuja

The Committee of Federal Polytechnic Rectors (COFER) has unanimously elected Professor Aliyu Mamman, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Daura, Katsina State, as its new Chairman.

COFER serves as a platform for Rectors of all Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria to exchange ideas, experiences, and address common challenges in tertiary technological education. They achieve this through meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

In addition to this exchange, COFER acts as a collective voice for the Rectors, enabling them to express informed views and opinions on matters concerning the management of polytechnics and the broader Nigerian tertiary technological education sector, all within legal boundaries.

The Committee also promotes and facilitates cooperation amongst its member institutions, as well as between Rectors and staff of Federal Polytechnics, State Polytechnics, other tertiary institutions, and regulatory bodies.

Election and Tenure Details

In a statement released on Wednesday, COFER Secretary Godwin B Ayegba announced the election of the Chairman and other officials during the association’s 33rd regular meeting held at the Veterinary Council in Abuja.
