The Federal Executive Council meeting, presided over by President Bola Tinubu, has approved the sum of ₦242.68 billion for the rehabilitation, resurfacing, and construction of 14 essential road projects across Nigeria. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, made the disclosure while briefing State House correspondents on the outcomes of the meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Umahi indicated that this funding is part of the administration’s strategy to reassess and prioritise inherited projects under the Renewed Hope agenda.
He detailed the allocation for each project, which includes: Agaie-Katcha-Baro Road, Niger State – ₦22 billion (Contractor: Messrs GR Building Construction Limited); Odukpani Junction (Calabar-Ikom-Ogoja Road), Cross River State – ₦26.335 billion (Contractor: Samatech); Abeokuta-Ajibo Road and Iyana Mosa Road, Ogun State – ₦10.89 billion (Contractor: Messrs HM Construction Limited); and Inoma-Iyaka-Abaji Section of Ibaji-Odulu-Ajibu Road, Anambra State – ₦9.33 billion (Contractor: Niger Cat).
Others are Umuahia-Ituano-Ikot Ekpene Road, Umuahia Emudike Section – ₦14.37 billion (Contractor: Heartland Reckon Construction Company); Kaduna-Jos Road (Phase One), Kaduna and Plateau States – ₦33.423 billion (Contractor: Setraco); Yola-Fufure Road, Adamawa State – ₦11.81 billion (Contractor: WisChina Worldwide Engineering Limited); Ijebu-Ibutita Ebe Road, Ogun State – ₦13 billion (Contractor: Aretha Construction Limited); and Amido Road, Taraba State – ₦7.68 billion (Contractor: Messrs Mode Limited).

Others are Nkomoro-Isu Road, Enugu and Ebonyi States – ₦14.49 billion (Contractor: Arab Contractors); Aba-Owerri Road Dualisation via Ikot Ekpene Border – ₦11.55 billion (Contractor: Arab Contractors); Gashua-Bayamari Road (Section Two), Yobe State – ₦9.68 billion (Contractor: Messrs Wick Rock); Ikorodu-Shagamu Road (Phase One of Lagos-Ibadan Road) – ₦27.59 billion (Contractor: Arab Contractors); Remaining Sections of Lagos-Ibadan Road – ₦30 billion (Contractor: RCC).
Additionally, a separate approval of ₦7 billion was granted for the resurfacing of the AK Bypass, to be executed by Ghitto Construction Limited.
The minister underscored the importance of completing specific major roads by April to adhere to commissioning timelines, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s road infrastructure.
Umahi said the council, however, deferred approval for the proposed construction of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency headquarters for further evaluation.
