FCT police raid criminal hideout, arrest four suspects

From Molly Kilete, Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has raided a notorious criminal hideout located at the Timber Market, Dei-Dei, and arrested four suspects.

The operation was conducted by detectives from the Dei-Dei ‘B’ Division under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Olatunji Disu.

FCT Command Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, who disclosed this, said the hideout, belonging to a notorious armed robber currently at large, served as a hub for drug dealing, stolen phones, and other criminal activities.

Adeh stated that the raid, conducted in November, led to the arrest of Nura Halilu, Salim Mohammed, Saifullahi Usman, and Usman Mohammed.

They were found in possession of one locally made gun, three live cartridges, three expended cartridges, four knives, and a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Adeh noted that the operation was carried out as a proactive effort to enhance security in the Federal Capital Territory during the upcoming Yuletide season. She said, “One of the suspects, Ismail Tasiu, also known as ‘Old School,’ confessed to operating in the area for over ten years. Another suspect, Nura Halilu, admitted to being part of an armed robbery and drug-dealing syndicate led by a fugitive named Murtala.”

She added that the suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police advised FCT residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police promptly via the following numbers: 08061581938, 08032003913, PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192.
